The Laumas CONVUSB485 is a USB 2.0 full-speed to RS485 converter cable, 180 cm (70.9 in) long, with a Type-A USB connector on one end and stripped/tinned wires for direct terminal board connection on the other. Data transfer rate spans 300 bit/s to 300 Mbit/s, with operating temperatures from −40°C to +85°C (−40°F to +185°F). The PC recognises it as a virtual serial port.

The CONVUSB485 is a USB-to-RS485 converter cable designed for connecting RS 485 weighing instruments directly to a PC’s USB port. It is the standard interface cable used in PC-based tools for instrument configuration, calibration, monitoring, and parameter management.

The cable is 180 cm (70.9 in) long, with a standard Type-A USB connector at the PC end and individual stripped and tinned wires at the instrument end for direct connection to the RS485 terminal board — no additional connector or adapter is required. The host PC recognises the CONVUSB485 as a virtual COM port (VCP) using FTDI drivers downloadable from This is a link, compatible with all versions of Windows, macOS, and Linux. For software developers, a DLL library is also available for integration into custom application software. Automatic receive/transmission selection (RS485 half duplex) eliminates manual switching, and two LEDs indicate active reception and transmission status. The cable is powered directly from the USB bus with a maximum current draw of 250 mA.
