ScaleLink Wireless Transceiver
The Western Scale ScaleLink is a wireless transceiver for scale systems operating at 900 MHz, requiring no laptop for configuration. With a NEMA 4 enclosure, outdoor line-of-sight range up to 1,000 ft (305 m), and radio approval for use in the USA, Canada, Europe & Australia. Direct connection to devices with RS 232, RS 22 or 40mA current loop input or output.
PRODUCT DETAILS
The ScaleLink Wireless Transceiver is a purpose-built 900 MHz frequency-hopping radio designed specifically for the scale industry. Unlike general-purpose wireless modules that require laptop configuration or specialized RF expertise, the ScaleLink is engineered for scale technicians: baud rates, radio channels, and operating parameters are adjustable directly on the unit – no laptop required. This dramatically reduces installation time and eliminates the need for IT support during field commissioning.
The ScaleLink replaces physical cable runs between any two communicating scale system devices – indicators to remote displays or PCs – with a reliable 900 MHz wireless link. Outdoor line-of-sight range reaches up to 984 ft (300 m) or more, while indoor/indirect range is up to 295 ft (90 m). Six selectable radio channels and frequency hopping minimize interference in environments with multiple wireless systems. The elimination of physical connections between system elements also improves lightning protection – a significant advantage for outdoor truck and vehicle scale installations.
Housed in a powder-coated mild steel NEMA 4 water-resistant enclosure with watertight cable glands and a viewing window for status LEDs, the ScaleLink is ready for tough outdoor and industrial environments. Multiple communication interfaces (RS-232, RS-422, 20 mA current loop) ensure compatibility with virtually all scale indicators and peripheral devices. An AC to DC adapter is included.
Most Common Applications: Remote display installation for truck and vehicle scales, wireless connection of digital junction boxes to indicators, indicator-to-PC or PLC wireless links, eliminating cable trenching in retrofit scale installations.

NBSCIA purchased a four piece set of Ultraslim LCD to allow two axle weighing. Staff could transport the Ultraslims in their personal vehicles.
Units were easy to level and the digital key pad was easy to read, even in sunlight.

I wanted to pass on a thank-you from my customer EMS-Tech. Specifically to Marc but also to the others at Massload that were involved but I didn't deal with directly.
Last fall EMS-Tech bought a pair of custom ML-700s to measure cable tension for the winches that manipulate the loading spout at a grain terminal.
All was going well until about 5 weeks ago, when an operator at the terminal bypassed the safety mechanism, overloaded and broke the tension link as well as some other equipment. EMS-Tech has been under a lot of pressure from their customer to put the grain terminal back into service ASAP.
Marc & Massload made every effort to ensure that the custom ML-700 was delivered on time as promised.
Originally, the ML-700 was to be shipped via UPS Express but when Marc found out that UPS could not guarantee delivery, he hand delivered the equipment to Fedex. This saved at least two days and provided the time needed to configure & calibrate the electronics before handing the equipment over to EMS-Tech for installation and commissioning.

We purchased a set of axle pads several years ago and they are very accurate and convenient. When one of the load cells failed, ( I suspect operator abuse, truck slamming on the brakes) Ryan in tech support was amazingly patient, professional and helpful in the diagnostic process. He went above and beyond to help us get the problem resolved.
Our scale was up and running very quickly and is a very useful tool on our farm again.
*Just a side note, the more picky you are regarding the ground work under and ramps leading on and off the pads the more accurate they’ll be. We put a concrete pad underneath them and a level approach and departure ramp for weighing super B’s and are within 10-40 kg consistently of all the other certified scales in our area.
