The Massload Custom Mining Tension Link is mainly installed at the rope attachment of the Galloway stage for shaft sinking and refurbishment. It can also be utilized in any lifting or hoisting application where a standard-size tension link doesn’t meet the physical and electrical requirements. Built from alloy steel with electroless nickel plating and IP67 to IP68 sealing, it is engineered to your capacity and overload requirements, with wired, analog output, and wireless output configurations.

During shaft sinking and shaft refurbishment, the Galloway, which is a multi-deck work stage that carries equipment of many sizes and weights, hangs in the shaft via wire ropes run from the top of the shaft, usually four of them. As the stage is raised, lowered, and loaded, the weight it carries keeps changing, and an overloaded condition puts the entire suspension system at risk. A custom mining tension link is installed inline and replaces the link bar of the rope attachment assembly to detect that rope’s tension load to control the safety of the operation. Reading every rope individually lets your team see the total stage load and how evenly it is shared, and act before any one rope or attachment is overloaded.
At Massload, each tension link is designed to fit that envelope, with custom capacity, a safe overload of 150% to 250% of full scale, and an ultimate overload of 300% to 1000% of full scale, the link can meet the high factors of safety that hoisting and suspension work calls for. The custom tension link is made of alloy steel with electroless nickel plating, sealed to IP67 to IP68 against dust and water, rated to operate from −40°C to +80°C (−40°F to +176°F), and material-tested by ultrasonic testing, proof load, and wet magnetic particle (WetMag) inspection.
The signal goes wherever your operation needs it: a 0.5 to 2 mV/V output for your own instrumentation, a 4–20 mA or 0–10 V analog output wired straight to the site PLC, a connection to a transmitter or indicator for a local readout, or a wireless transmitter for stages and suspended equipment where cable runs down the shaft are hard to manage.
Most Common Applications: Galloway and multi-deck work stage rope attachment, suspended equipment in mine shafts, and PLC-integrated rope load monitoring.
