The Massload Custom Load Sensing Chaseblock/Fork Link is a part in the rope attachment assembly that can be use to monitor the rope tension of the Galloway in a mine shaft. Engineered to your attachment’s dimensions and loading specifications, it is built from alloy steel with electroless nickel plating, sealed to IP67 to IP68, and available with mV/V, analog, and wireless output configurations.

In a mine shaft, the rope attachment is the assembly that terminates the hoist rope and connects it to the conveyance, whether that is a cage carrying personnel, a skip carrying ore, or a sinking bucket during shaft sinking. Everything that travels up or down the shaft passes through that connection. A custom load-sensing fork link is engineered as a load-bearing link within the attachment, with a forked & clevis-style end, it measures the force carried between the rope and the conveyance. It gives the hoist operators and maintenance team a direct reading of the load on each rope, right where it is applied.
Measuring at the rope attachment supports overload detection, payload checks, and, on multi-rope hoists, a view of how evenly the load is shared between head ropes. Each fork link is designed around your attachment’s dimensions and loading specifications, with custom capacity, a safe overload of 150% to 250% of full scale, and an ultimate overload of 300% to 1000% of full scale for the high factors of safety that shaft hoisting requires. The body is alloy steel with electroless nickel plating, sealed to IP67 to IP68, rated to operate from −40°C to +80°C (−40°F to +176°F), and material-tested by ultrasonic testing, proof load, and wet magnetic particle (WetMag) inspection.
Output options include a 0.5 to 2 mV/V signal for your own instrumentation, a 4–20 mA or 0–10 V analog output for the hoist PLC, a connection to a transmitter or indicator, and wireless configurations that avoid running cable to a conveyance moving the full depth of the shaft.
Most Common Applications: Galloway and multi-deck work stage rope attachment, suspended equipment in mine shafts, and PLC-integrated rope load monitoring.
