The Massload ML 700 Tension Load Cell is a rugged, Canadian-engineered tension link designed for safe, accurate force measurement in the most demanding overhead lifting, crane, and winching applications. With shackle-ready openings at each end, the tension link installs directly into a lifting system between the hook and load, enabling real-time tension monitoring without altering rigging geometry. Its electroless nickel-coated high-strength alloy steel construction and IP67 environmental sealing deliver long-term reliability in outdoor and industrial environments where corrosion, vibration, and weather exposure are constant challenges.
The Massload ML 700 Tension Link connects directly to a wide range of indicators and amplifiers to display live load readings. Output options include standard millivolt/volt cabled output, 2.4 GHz wireless transmission, and 4-20 mA analogue output for PLC or SCADA integration, making it equally suited to permanent crane installations, portable lifting equipment, and automated load monitoring systems. Multi-point calibration ensures 0.1% FS accuracy across the full capacity range, and a 200% safe overload rating provides critical protection against accidental overloads during heavy lifts.

What is a Tension Load Cell?
Tension load cells are measuring devices that predominantly measure tension and pull force. Openings at each end of the load cell allow for easy connection to shackles, wire rope, or other rigging. Some tension load cells are €œS-type€ load cells due to their shape and can be used to measure either tension or compression.
Tension load cells are temperature-compensated, environmentally sealed, and can be used for static and dynamic measurements. They are essential for ensuring worker and equipment safety while moving heavy loads.
Custom Tension Links are available in capacities up to, and exceeding, one million pounds and can be designed to meet industrial safety factors of up to 1000% overload protection. Millivolt output or signal conditioning utilizing a 4-20 mA output for PLC interface is available.
