Haul trucks move every tonne of surface mine produce such as raw materials, extracted minerals, and earth. What each truck carries drives production numbers, maintenance costs, and site safety. Massload Mining Truck Scales weigh the largest off-highway haul trucks axle by axle.
Standard platforms are matched to the CAT 777, CAT 785 and CAT 797F models, with axle capacities from 300,000 lb to 1,150,000 lb (136,078 kg to 521,631 kg). The truck scale gives mine operators a dedicated way to check what each truck is really carrying. It also gives engineering firms that design and build mine sites a standard, easy-to-specify weigh station for common haul truck models.
An on-site truck scale is also the reference point for the rest of your weighing equipment. Use it to validate and recalibrate on-board payload systems and to verify the accuracy of loader scales, so the numbers your fleet reports match what is actually being hauled.
Accurate weights keep every truck working within its limits. Avoiding overloads reduces excessive wear on tires, axles, drivetrains, and suspension components, supports braking performance, and improves safety for drivers and everyone else on site. Avoiding underloads keeps trips and fuel from being wasted, which increases efficiency and throughput.
Mining is hard on equipment, and these scales are built for it. The platforms are a rugged, heavy-duty design built around Massload’s durable high-capacity load cells. They are made to take the weight of loaded haul trucks day after day in mud, dust, gravel, snow, and cold. Massload’s high-capacity, axle-based mining vehicle scales have been tested and proven at Canada’s most remote mining location. A scale built this way reduces downtime and maintenance costs and keeps your weigh station running in the toughest conditions.
The wireless configuration sends axle weights to a USB base station and a PC running the Massload Advanced Weigh Scale (MAWS) Software. It comes with a stop-and-go traffic light to guide the truck driver, wheel and axle weight totalization, truck-in/truck-out net weighing, Stores records by customer, truck, and product, and weigh ticket printing. A scale operator is required to operate the software.
Platforms can be installed in-ground, on a concrete foundation, and in a fixed, permanent location or set up as a portable system. Portable installations suit temporary, remote, or changing sites. Fixed installations suit established operations with high-traffic weigh points. For haul trucks and mining equipment outside the standard sizes, custom platforms are available. These systems are intended for operational weight management and are not legal-for-trade.
