CLM8 Intelligent Junction Box
The Laumas CLM8 is an intelligent 8-channel junction box for load cells with digital equalization, load distribution analysis, and automatic diagnostics. It supports up to 16 load cells in parallel and communicates via RS485/RS232 (ModBus RTU), with an optional Ethernet TCP/IP port. Available in DIN rail, IP67 stainless steel, and polycarbonate enclosures.
PRODUCT DETAILS
The CLM8 is a sophisticated intelligent junction box designed to connect and manage up to 8 independent load cell channels — expandable to 16 by linking two CLM8 units — making it the ideal solution for precision multi-cell weighing systems such as weighbridges and large platform scales.
Unlike passive summing boxes, the CLM8 monitors each load cell individually, enabling real-time diagnostics, digital equalization, and load distribution analysis across all active channels. This means technicians can identify a failing or out-of-balance cell without removing the scale from service, reducing downtime in critical operations.
The CLM8 connects directly to PC/PLC systems or W series weight indicators via RS485/RS232 and supports ModBus RTU communication, with optional Ethernet TCP/IP for remote supervision through its integrated web application. The backlit alphanumeric LCD display and 4-key keyboard allow direct on-site configuration and monitoring. Available in three enclosure formats — DIN/Omega rail for panel mounting, IP67 AISI 304 stainless steel for harsh environments, and IP67 polycarbonate — the CLM8 adapts to virtually any installation requirement.
Most Common Applications: Large platform scales, tank and hopper weighing, multi-point industrial floor scales, automated weighing, truck scales, weighbridges.

NBSCIA purchased a four piece set of Ultraslim LCD to allow two axle weighing. Staff could transport the Ultraslims in their personal vehicles.
Units were easy to level and the digital key pad was easy to read, even in sunlight.
NBSCIA found the scales to be accurate compared to harvest yield monitors and highway scales.
For NBSCIA's purpose to check crop yield and estimate tones of manure applied and fertilizer application on test plots the Ultraslim LCD proved to be the best choice.

I wanted to pass on a thank-you from my customer EMS-Tech. Specifically to Marc but also to the others at Massload that were involved but I didn't deal with directly.
Last fall EMS-Tech bought a pair of custom ML-700s to measure cable tension for the winches that manipulate the loading spout at a grain terminal.
All was going well until about 5 weeks ago, when an operator at the terminal bypassed the safety mechanism, overloaded and broke the tension link as well as some other equipment. EMS-Tech has been under a lot of pressure from their customer to put the grain terminal back into service ASAP.
Marc & Massload made every effort to ensure that the custom ML-700 was delivered on time as promised.
Originally, the ML-700 was to be shipped via UPS Express but when Marc found out that UPS could not guarantee delivery, he hand delivered the equipment to Fedex. This saved at least two days and provided the time needed to configure & calibrate the electronics before handing the equipment over to EMS-Tech for installation and commissioning.

We purchased a set of axle pads several years ago and they are very accurate and convenient. When one of the load cells failed, ( I suspect operator abuse, truck slamming on the brakes) Ryan in tech support was amazingly patient, professional and helpful in the diagnostic process. He went above and beyond to help us get the problem resolved.
Our scale was up and running very quickly and is a very useful tool on our farm again.
*Just a side note, the more picky you are regarding the ground work under and ramps leading on and off the pads the more accurate they’ll be. We put a concrete pad underneath them and a level approach and departure ramp for weighing super B’s and are within 10-40 kg consistently of all the other certified scales in our area.
