Slow Speed In-Ground Weigh-in-Motion

Slow Speed In-Ground Weigh-in-Motion

Each weigh pad comes with two attachable ramps for static weighing. Should dynamic weighing be required, we recommend extra long weigh pads (1 meter) and leveling track. See portable weigh-in-motion for more information on using Ultraslim weigh scales to obtain dynamic weight.

These weigh pads are not legal-for-trade in obtaining static weight or dynamic weight.

INSTALLATION

Installation of Massload’s permanent weight in motion scale is simple. An approximate hole must be cut through the surface of the roadway where the scale will be placed. Scale frames are then bolted together with braces which will later be used to keep the scale flush with surrounding concrete.

Proper drainage is provided to the cutout and the scale frames are then suspended over the cutout. The braces ensure the permanent pads are installed flush with the surrounding concrete to ensure a level approach to the scale and a level departure from the scale.

The first pour creates the bottom of the scale pit. After the first pour has had time to cure, the second pour fills the outer portion of the scale cutout. Load cells, cables, sum boxes, LCIB computer interface, and WIM software are now ready to be installed to finish the scale installation.

Dynamic weighing: 50,000 lbs per axle weight
Static weighing: 100,000 lbs per axle weight

Accuracy

Dynamic weighing accurate to 3% of gross vehicle weight, 95% CI
Static weighing: accurate to 0.25% full scale nominal

Overload Capacity

150% full scale safe overload
300% full scale ultimate overload

Temperature Range

-40ºC to +80ºC (operating)
-10ºC to +40ºC (compensated)

Graduation

50 lbs standard

Weight

670 lbs / deck (2 decks per system)

Material

High strength steel

Fatigue Limit

Infinite cycles (axle loads) per day

Ground Requirements

Accuracy is significantly affected by the scale foundation. This scale system must have a level and flat concrete approach and departure that is level within 1/16″ for the most accurate vehicle weight

Dimensions

144″ x 30″ x 6″
120″ x 30″ x 6″

Sealing Standard

IP-66: totally protected from dust; protected from strong jets of water

Power

This dynamic scale is powered by the LCIB, which is powered from the USB port of the computer (draws < 500mA)

VEHICLE DETECTION LOOP

Inductive loops are another presence detection device that detect the electromagnetic signature of vehicles. They are used to begin or end a WIM process, and in this sense are similar in function to light curtains. Installation of inductive loops requires a 1/8″ saw cut that is 1″ deep and installed with copper wire and sealant.

TRAFFIC LIGHT

Massload software can control traffic lights to help you manage the flow of traffic before and after weighments. Traffic lights are useful to stop vehicles that are overweight or to direct traffic that is underweight. They can also be used to start and stop vehicle weighing through manual or automatic (presence detection) devices.

RFID TAG READER

Radio frequency identification tags can be placed in individual vehicles. When a vehicle with an RFID tag passes over the RFID reader at the scale site, their identification is tracked along with their weight. This allows you to track a fleet of vehicles easily and weight data can be sorted and analysed to understand fleet activity. Ideal candidates are mine sites with RFID tagged trucks to monitor truck weight and material flow.

REMOTE SCORE BOARD

The remote score board displays vehicle weight at a long distance. Remote score boards can come with 2″ lettering (visible to 50 feet), 4.5″ letter (visible to under 250 feet), and to 6.5″ lettering (visible to over 300 feet). Remote score boards can also come with traffic lights as seen here to direct the flow of traffic. Score boards allow you to check weight quickly and easily.
